Prominent Islamic scholar and Chairman of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Shehi Shehi Maihula, has endorsed Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his deputy, Murtala Sule Garo, for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sheikh Maihula’s endorsement came during Governor Yusuf’s overnight tour of eight Maulud gatherings across the Kano metropolis, where prominent Islamic scholars and religious leaders offered prayers for the administration and its political future.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Mustapha Muhammad, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Yusuf.
The Governor began the tour at the Zawiyya of Sheikh Sharif Sani, where he presented the administration’s achievements and ongoing projects, particularly in infrastructure and other areas aimed at improving the lives of residents.
Following the presentation, Sheikh Sharif Sani prayed for Governor Yusuf’s successful re-election, urging that the administration’s development efforts be allowed to continue.
At the headquarters of the Qadiriyya movement in Africa at Kabara, Sheikh Malam Karibullah Nasiru Kabara also pledged continued prayers for peaceful elections and the Governor’s re-election in 2027.
The most direct political endorsement came at the Zawiyya of Sheikh Shehi Maihula, where the prominent cleric formally declared his support for Governor Yusuf’s second-term bid.
Other religious leaders visited during the tour included Sheikh Shehi Aliyu Harazimi, Dr. Adamu Kamaluddeen Adamu na Maaji (Alfindiki), Sheikh Yanmota, Sheikh Salga and Sheikh Atiku.
At the Zawiyya of Sheikh Shehi Aliyu Harazimi, Khalifa Shehi Aliyu Harazimi offered prayers for the success of the Kano State Government.
Similarly, Dr. Adamu Kamaluddeen Adamu na Maaji commended the administration’s development projects and prayed for continued success.
The Governor also visited the Zawiyya of Sheikh Yanmota and Zawiyya of Sheikh Salga, where prayers were offered for peace, progress and development in Kano State.
At the final stop, the Zawiyya of Sheikh Atiku, the Khalifa formally endorsed Governor Yusuf and Deputy Governor Murtala Garo for the 2027 election, while pledging continued prayers for their re-election.
The overnight religious engagement came as Maulud celebrations continued across Kano State, with separate government delegations led by the Deputy Governor and Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, also visiting Islamic scholars and religious gatherings.
