Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring reliable water supply in urban centres and accelerating infrastructure development across the state.
Governor Yusuf made the commitment during a Maulud celebration organised by Madrasat Dr. Adam Kamaluddeen Adam Namaaji, as part of a series of visits to eight prominent Islamic scholars in Kano from Monday evening through the early hours of Tuesday.
The Governor said his administration had awarded the contract for the comprehensive rehabilitation and resuscitation of the Tamburawa and Challawa Waterworks to a highly experienced international company, with work currently progressing round the clock.
According to him, the intervention is aimed at restoring the capacity of the two major waterworks and ensuring a more consistent supply of potable water to residents of Kano metropolis.
Beyond the metropolitan area, Governor Yusuf said his administration was also implementing several rural water infrastructure projects, with some already completed and operational while others were at advanced stages of completion.
He identified the Guzugu Waterworks in Kabo, Joda Waterworks in Gabasawa and Wudil Waterworks as some of the facilities currently supplying uninterrupted water to surrounding communities.
“Our administration remains fully committed to delivering public goods and executing targeted programmes that directly improve the daily lives and living conditions of our citizens,” the Governor said.
Earlier at the event, Khalifa Dr. Adam Kamaluddeen Adam commended the Yusuf administration for what he described as visible achievements in road construction and other public infrastructure projects across Kano State.
Dr. Adam also acknowledged reports of the state government’s ₦21 billion investment in the revitalisation of the Tamburawa and Challawa Waterworks, expressing optimism that the intervention would significantly improve water supply in the state capital and surrounding areas.
