Troops of 17 Brigade, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police, have rescued seven kidnapped victims along the Dayi–Malumfashi road in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued at about 11:45 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, during a security operation along the route.
The security forces reportedly intercepted a green-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3 with registration number Kano BCH-528ZY, which was conveying the victims.
The rescued persons comprised six females, reportedly students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, and the driver of the vehicle, identified as Sani Umar.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb kidnapping and other criminal activities along major routes in the state.
Military sources said the rescued victims are being secured as authorities continue efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
The troops and police have also maintained heightened vigilance across the area as security operations continue.
