Former presidential aid, politician and prominent physician, Doyin Okupe has passed away at the age of 72 after battling cancer.

Dr. Okupe had been critically ill in the weeks leading up to his death.

Information available to this medium indicate Okupe was first diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago and later developed sarcoma in his right shoulder.

Doyin Okupe served as special assistant to President Obasanjo on Media and publicity. He also served as the Director-General of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign during the last presidential election.

Doyin who had served in different categories was also a senior adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The late politician before his death was a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu’s administration after he left the Labour Party.

His death was confirmed this Friday.
