Customs burst syndicate, Confiscate Tramadol Consignment

The Nigeria Customs Service have confiscated a large consignment of the banned Tramadol drug smuggled into the country.

The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Service made the seizure with Customs Duty Paid Value of N150 Million.

According to the Area Controller, Compt. Abubakar Dalhatu during a press conference for official handing over of the seized drugs to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC said the drugs were captured in Gumel, Jigawa State.

According to him, following a sustained effort and acting on credible intelligence, his men uncover the tactics of the syndicate importing the hard drugs during which a Lexus LX450 with Reg no. TRN-234KC Kano was impounded.

The drug, 490 roles were concealed in the exotic car with the intention of beating security as the vehicle would ordinary not arouse any suspicion.

Dalhatu, added that Security experts and other relevant stakeholders have identified hard drugs as factors exacerbating insecurity, and crime among the youths.

He warned that the Customs remain on the watch out for unscrupulous persons attempting to import any prohibited items and the law will take it’s full wrath on any on any person arrested.

Also, he further stated that the handover is part of collaboration policy of the CGC, Bashir Adewale with other relevant agencies to further secure Nigeria Borders.

He called on the public to assist the Service by providing timely and credible information that will aid in the arrest and prosecution of those into such illegal businesses detrimental to the economy, health and security of the Country.

The State Coordinator, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Kasim Idrisa applauded the Customs for a wonderful job and assured their support for more synergy.

He assured that the dangerous drug with the indication of 200ml which is two times it’s usual and accepted 100ml will be destroyed shortly at a date set aside.
