Gov Abba distribute 42,000MT of FG’s Palliative

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has flagged off the distribution of 42,000 metric tons of palliative from the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The palliative, a fifth of its kind is to be distributed to vulnerable persons across the 44 local government areas of the state in a bid to cushion the effects of present economic realities.

Some of the items received through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) include; maize, millet, sorghum, and garri (cassava flakes).

Presenting the items to the state government, the Director General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, emphasized hat the gesture aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to mitigating the repercussions of the current economic downturn.

She said, Kano State has been apportioned 969 metric tons of maize, 1,320 metric tons of sorghum, and 417 metric tons of millet, to be distributed equitably across all local government areas.

Umar added that a fraction of the food provisions, equivalent to twenty percent, is earmarked for religious institutions, whereas three percent will be allocated to boarding schools.

She however warned against impending flood in 2024, referencing the Seasonal Climate Prediction and Annual Flood Outlook.

On his part, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf pledged adherence to the directives of the federal government while distributing the items.

He warns those saddled with the distribution of the items not to engage in any act contrary to the distribution plans.

The Governor Expressed gratitude for the generosity while appealing for continued support for the people of the State.
