Kano state government is said to pend over N400 million Naira quarterly in the procurement and distribution of free drugs across the state.
This, according to the Director of Drugs and Supply, Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA), Pharm Tukur Ibrahim, is in fulfilment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s campaign promises of providing qualitative healthcare services in the state.
He stated this Monday in Kano during an exclusive interview with Blazon News.
Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf is a compassionate man who cares for the less previllage and the vulnerable.
Ibrahim, described the governor as a man of his words who has mandated the agency to supply free drugs to some designated hospitals including Correctional Centres in the state for inmates.

“You know the governor during his campaign made lots of promises to provide good healthcare services in the state.
Since he came into office, he has been paying for the distribution of free drugs in various hospitals such as Hasiya Bayero, Marmara, Yadakunya, MCHs and even to correctional centres in the state among others.
Every quarter, the governor spends over N400 million to purchase drugs for pregnant women and children under the age of 5 as well as other vulnerable groups in the society including people suffering from sickle cell anemia as part of fulfilment of his campaign promises”, he stated.
Abba Kabir Yusuf is one of a kind, a governor whose records precedes him.
According to Tukur who spoke on behalf of the Director General of the Agency, Pharm. Gali Sule, the governor, no doubt, has overcome issues of drug shortage in the state hospitals which prevailed before his assumption into office.
“Before he came into office, state owned hospitals could only boast of 30 percent drugs supply but today, it has jumped to over 90 percent.
These free drugs and other medical consumables have saved many lives and I assure you the governor is ready to do more in this regard”, Tukur added.
