The Kano State House of Assembly Tuesday screened Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya alongside five others as Commissioner nominees.
Before his nomination, the renowned Civil Society Activist was the Executive Director Citizens for Development and Education (CDE) and a pioneer leader and founding fathers of the Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF).
His name became famous within and outside the CSOs network, state, nationally and internationally due to his consistent and active participation in activism geared for a better change for the citizenry.
Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya’s remarkable achievements no doubt led to his nomination by Governor Abba Yusuf Kabir after reshuffling his cabinet last Thursday which saw the removal of some of his underperforming Commissioners, Chief of Staff and SSG.
The screening session presided over by R.Hon. Yusuf Isma’il Falgore, Speaker State Assembly, Kano took place under conducive and relaxed atmosphere.
Other nominees are; Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, Wada Sagagi, Dr. Isma’il Danmaraya, Dr. Dahiru Muhammad, Nura Iro Ma,aji and Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu
While answering questions, Ibrahim Waiya noted that it is true he has been in the field of activism for long but his nomination has opened another chapter in his life where he must adjust and learn to work with the mandate and support of the people.
He assured the Assembly and State Government of absolute support and cooperation as the days of aggressive activism were over.
