The Provost, Kano State College of Science, Art and Preliminary Studies, Sanusi Yakubu Ahmad, Phd has described the College as one of the best in the Federation considering numerous achievements recorded over the years.
The provost who stated this on Monday in Kano while interacting with news men said the College has evolved from its previous IJMB status to a college under his watch which has led to partnership and affiliations with different agencies both at home and abroad such as universities and other tertiary institutions.
According to Ahmad, the College which been enlisted by TedFund is currently enjoying construction of various structures worth billions of naira, an achievement not recorded in the past fifty years until now, while over seventy lecturers are pursuing their Master degrees and Phds abroad with some already back after the completion of their programs.
He added that qualitative programs by qualified lecturers give the college an edge over it’s counterparts.
Sanusi who couldn’t contain his excitement further revealed that the Art, Science and Remedial College has also received over forty-million-naira research funding with over eight percent of the researches completed and his leadership has also been able to build hostels worth over five hundred million naira from special intervention sourced by this office and an annex for vocational training.
He stated that the state is rated number one when it comes to IJMB exams across the country with other states coming to Kano to learn how the College is able to achieve such a feat which he attributed especially to the declaration of state of emergency on education by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf which he believed is another indicator that the governor strongly believes in education as the bed rock of any progressive society.
He applauded the Governor for his numerous supports toward the educational sector and all his logistic supports which has aided that operations without hitches and assured his office will continue to deliver on the mandate of his Excellency, the Executive governor of the state, Alh, Abba Kabir Yusuf on sound education for the teeming youths in the State.
Furthermore, the Provost revealed that the College has received various awards of excellence and a certificate which declared it the best in Nigeria.
