Kano State Hospital Management Board has submitted a comprehensive proposal to the Commissioner Ministry of Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf on ways health facilities could judiciously use the capitation funds collected from Kano State Contributory Health Insurance (KSCHMA) to reform and develop their respective outfits.
Speaking on the proposal, the Executive Secretary of HMB Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda highlighted that to ensure a consistent supply of essential medications to support quality patient care, a major part of the funds should be used to purchase drugs, so as to ensure a consistent supply of essential medications to support quality patient care.
The proposal suggested that the other part of the funds should be channeled to relevant healthcare services as demanded, such as hiring additional staff, as well as renovation and maintenance of infrastracture, especially the patient care areas
“The capitation funds present a valuable opportunity for facilities to enhance healthcare services, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen operational efficiency. This proposal we submitted to the Honorable Commissioner outlines a plan for the effective utilization of capitation funds,” Nagoda emphasized.
“In a nutshell, the proposal outlined a plan for the effective utilization of capitation funds to enhance healthcare services, upgrade infrastructure, and strengthen operational efficiency. We believe that this plan will enable our facilities to provide high-quality care to our patients while ensuring sustainable operations in Kano Stat,” he concluded.
