The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a notorious female gang-leader terrorizing the state along side others.
The principal suspect, Shamsiyya Adamu, a 19-year-old resident of Brigade Quarters Kano, was arrested on December 21, 2024, following out cry from different part of the state over cases of phone theft by a young lady.
The suspect was reported using a tricyclist and a cyber criminal to aid in her operations, consequently, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba raised a special intervention squad, and the principal suspect was arrested on December 21, 2024.
Other accomplices arrested along the female gang-leader are; Idris Yusuf: A 23-year-old tricycle rider who aided in transporting the principal suspect to commit crimes, Al’asan Dahiru: A 24-year old suspect who specialized in disposing stolen items for the principal suspect.
Others include; Abdulmajid Haruna: A 27-year-old suspect who specialized in buying stolen properties. Six mobile phones were recovered from him and Salim Auwalu: A 21-year-old suspect who specialized in swindling money from victims’ bank accounts.
So far, six mobile phones have been recovered, and efforts are ongoing to recover more stolen phones, while thirty complainants, including 29 females and 1 male, have lodged complaints against Shamsiyya, who confessed to stealing their mobile phones on various occasions in 2024.
The Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa who confirmed the arrest said any person with complaint against the suspects should contact the investigation team of the Command.
