World Photography Day which is 19th of August, is a day set aside to celebrate World Photography Day.
In an interview with the Newsmen at Northwest University, Kano campus. The Secretary-General, Muhammad Sani Ibrahim highlighted the importance of this Day.
According to him, he said today signified how important photographers are to the world.
“For the World to set aside a particular day to celebrate us, shows how important we are in the eyes of the world.”
This is the first time in the history of Kano State we are hosting over 200 photographers as against other years when we had just 20 to 30 photographers.”
“This is a milestone achievement bringing together photographers under the umbrella of Kano Visual Artists Association (KAVASS)”
Ibrahim urged the youths to seize this opportunity and brace themselves up as Photography is a lucrative business instead of relying on the government for unavailable jobs.
In the same vein, the vice chairman, of the Kano Visual Artists Association ( KAVASS), Alhaji Nasir Tubeless drew the attention of Kano youths to embrace the art of Photography.
Nasir urged the youths to join the association and have a sense of recognition in the eyes of the world.
He further encouraged female photographers among the youth to be up and doing and stand out among men.
As an act of Philanthropy, Nasir paid for ten female photographers who were willing to join the association free of charge.
The celebration was graced with lots of funfairs among others.
