Kano Youth Promotion Council Commends Kano State Government for Inaugurating High-Powered Committee on Profiling NGOs and Donor Organizations.

The Kano Youth Promotion Council (KYPC) strongly supports the Kano State Government’s recent establishment of a High-Powered Committee aimed at profiling and regulating Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and donor organizations operating within the state. This crucial initiative comes as a direct response to alarming concerns over the dangerous and illicit activities carried out by certain NGOs, including human trafficking, money laundering, and other social vices that detrimental to the religion and value of kano state. These criminal actions, disguised as charitable work, have put vulnerable populations at great risk and have undermined the cultural and religious values of Kano State.

KYPC commends the proactive approach taken by the state government under the leadership of the Secretary to the State Government, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, While acknowledging the important role of legitimate NGOs in sectors such as health, education, and social welfare, we fully support the government’s decision to investigate and monitor organizations whose operations threaten the integrity and safety of Kano’s people. The revelation that some NGOs are facilitating trafficking rings and exploiting women and children for profit is both disturbing and unacceptable. Such activities directly contradict the moral fabric of our society and the core values that define Kano.

The Kano Youth Promotion Council is particularly encouraged by the committee’s comprehensive mandate, which includes investigating sources of funding, operational methods, and the nature of activities conducted by NGOs. With the power to shut down any organization found engaging in unethical or illegal practices, the committee’s efforts will serve as a safeguard against the exploitation of our youth and most vulnerable citizens.

The KYPC strongly believes that this initiative will contribute significantly to enhancing the standard of living in Kano State. By ensuring that only reputable and law-abiding organizations are allowed to operate, the government is reinforcing its commitment to preserving the cultural heritage and values of Kano, which are paramount to the state’s future. We are also confident that the committee’s transparency, fairness, and thoroughness will help restore public trust in civil society organizations and promote a healthier, safer environment for all.

we remain steadfast in our support for this initiative, which will protect the interests of young people, women, and children from the dangers posed by criminally motivated organizations. The fight against exploitation, illegal activities, and the erosion of Kano’s cultural values is one that the youth of this state stand united in.

We urge all citizens to support this important move and to report any suspicious activities to the committee, as the state government works tirelessly to promote the well-being and prosperity of Kano.
