Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC has slashed the earlier price of Nomination forms for local government Chairmanship and Counselor’s Positions.
This is coming, Following the outcry by some political parties on the amount fixed for nomination forms by candidates.
The State electoral body had earlier announced N10 million Naira for Chairmanship positions while N5 million Naira for Councilorship positions.
Dissatisfied with the price fixed, some political parties in the state challenged the decision of KANSIEC in court, where the court ordered the electoral body to stope imposing price of Nomination forms to political parties.
At a media briefing, the Chairman of KANSIEC, Professor Sani Lawal Malumfashi announced that, the new price for the Nomination forms was now N9 million Naira while that of Councilorship was N4 million Naira.
Malumfashi explained that, although the state electoral body has the mandate to fixed any price, the decision to reduce the price was a show of respect to the court.
