A leadership symposium held in London, United Kingdom, on Thursday, 4 February 2026, provided the platform for Nigerian business writer and leadership facilitator, Dr Asma’u Isah Maibasira fpmc, fciap, fapmcn, to unveil her latest book, Facilitator’s Edge: A Guide for Expert Learning Design and Techniques, before an international audience.
The high-level symposium, themed “Navigating the Future: Leadership Strategies for the Knowledge Economy,” brought together educators, policymakers, business leaders and learning professionals from different parts of the world to examine the evolving demands of leadership, learning and knowledge transfer in a rapidly changing global environment.
The unveiling of Facilitator’s Edge formed a central highlight of the symposium, reinforcing discussions on future-ready leadership, effective facilitation and innovative learning design.
Participants explored how leaders and facilitators can adapt to knowledge-driven economies where collaboration, critical thinking and experiential learning are increasingly vital.
Dr Maibasira, a PhD holder from Northern Nigeria, is widely recognised for her work at the intersection of facilitation, leadership development and learning design. Despite her international engagements, she maintains a strong domestic presence as a mentor to young entrepreneurs, particularly women, while balancing her role as a dedicated homemaker.
Speaking during the symposium, the author described Facilitator’s Edge as a response to what she identified as a growing disconnect between knowledge delivery and meaningful learning outcomes. She stressed that effective facilitation must go beyond content transmission to empowering learners to generate insights and practical solutions.
The event featured a fireside discussion moderated by the founding editor of Forbes Africa, Chris Bishop, alongside a panel session comprising leadership consultants, policy experts and technology professionals, who examined future-focused leadership strategies and collaborative learning models.
The book presentation took place in the presence of senior Nigerian and international figures, including the Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Maina Maidugu, who was represented at the event.
Others in attendance included DCG Isah Umar Gusau (Rtd) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mrs Kikelomo Adewale Adeniyi, National President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association of Nigeria, Dr Ken Giami, publisher of African Leadership Magazine, as well as Chris Bishop of Forbes Africa.
Other distinguished guests from various professional backgrounds also attended the symposium, further underscoring the growing visibility of Nigerian intellectual and leadership contributions on the global stage.
Facilitator’s Edge is Dr Maibasira’s third publication, following Business Geek and an earlier edition of Facilitator’s Edge, both of which have been widely used by professionals and trainers across Africa and beyond.
Her work continues to focus on leadership development, learning design and mentorship for emerging entrepreneurs.
