The 16th Emir of Kano, Mahammad Sunusi II Thursday attended a public event organized by the state Government making it his first since his reinstatement sometime in May 2024.
The Emir who attended the distribution of free fertilizer to 52,800 smallholder famers in the state worth over one billion naira applauded the state governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for hi foresight which he said will go a long way to address currently issues of food.
According to the Emir “We earlier received a letter from a farmer from Rano on the need for intervention for fertilizer for farmers, little did we know that we would be coming for the distribution of fertilizer today.
This move by Abba Kabir will surely help boost food production and ease farmers suffering in terms of getting good fertilizer for their farm.
With this, we are sure of bumper harvest and hopefully, reduction of prices for food commodities after the harvest due to state government intervention.
We are proud of your administration’s commitment towards education, health infrastructure and now agriculture which we believe is the best way to go.
We assure you of our support and we pray that you will continue in your laudable human developmental projects which every government is encouraged to emulate”, he said.
Sanusi II further admonished he various leaders in-charge of the distribution of the fertilizer across the 44 local government areas of the state to ensure judicious distribution of the fertilizer and to only those intended for.
Further more, he charged the recipients not to engage in the act of selling the free fertilizer with the intention of making quick money.
