The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kano/Jigawa Area Command, held a one day Sensitization for Kano Business Community under the auspices of the Association of Kano Business Community (AKANOBCO) with the view of promoting Ease of Doing Business in the state.
During the one-day Sensitization programme held on 4 January 2025 at Tribes by Meena Restaurant in Kano, the business community were lectured on the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme, National Single Window (NSW) and Customs License Agents Procedures, urging them to explore its advantages for the growth of their businesses in export and import with Kano being the commercial nerve center of the North.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Usman Adamu, applauded the business community for their cooperation and compliance with Customs procedures. He pledged to build on his predecessor’s legacies through periodic Stakeholder engagements and sensitization.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs TY BALARABE, Adamu also added that the Command shall seek the Comptroller General of Customs’ (CGC) approval for the translation of the various topics discussed and import and export prohibition lists into the Hausa Language for better understanding and
The immediate outgoing Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Dalhatu Abubakar (rtd) was eulogized by various associations of the business community and coffered with various awards for a job well done and his outstanding performance during his time in office. Abubakar charged the business community to key-into the various trade facilitation tools introduced by the Service in order to move along with modern ways of doing businesses.
In his remark, the President Association of Kano Business Community, Alhaji Sabiu Bako applauded the NCS especially under the leadership of Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR for introducing various innovative technology to ease businesses. He noted that the business community are ever ready to comply with the Service while assuring of their commitment to sustain the cordial relationship between them and the Command and also wished Comptroller Dalhatu Abubuakar (rtd) well in his future endeavors.
The engagement was attended by prominent individuals such as; the National President, Kano State Trader Union (KASTU), Dr Dan Bature Abdulaziz, Alhaji Ibrahim Jarman Gaya, the Board Members of the Kano Business Community, Chairman Kano Market Chairmen Forum Association, and many others.
