….Seeks Immediate Arrest, Prosecution of Abdullahi Abbas Over Inciting Statements, Hate Speeches

The gubernatorial candidate of leading opposition party in Kano, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf (Abba Gida Gida) has sought for immediate prosecution of APC chairman in the state Abdullahi Abbas.

Abba Kabir in a suit with case number FHC/KN/CS/02/2023 filed by his counsel Barr. Bashir Yusuf Muhammad Tudunwazirchi requested the high court to as a matter of urgency compel the Kano State Police Commissioner to investigate and prosecute Abdullahi Abbas over his unguarded utterances that been creating political violence in the state.

A statement signed by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the spokesperson to Abba Gida Gida revealed that NNPP gubernatorial candidate approached the court with a view to awaken the police to do the needful.

“We have written several complaints with overwhelming evidences on the numerous atrocities of the state chairman of APC, but till date, the police authority in Kano has not act on any of them” Dawakin Tofa quoted

“In recent times, several attacks and political violence were orchestrated by Abdullahi Abbas, his son Sani Abdullahi Abbas and his closed associates where innocent individuals were maimed, injured and intimidated but yet, the police keep mum on the issue despite written complaints submitted before them”

The order of mandamus if granted, would force the Kano Police Command to discharge its constitutional responsibility and act accordingly on the formal complaint written against the state APC chairman Abdullahi Abbas for hate speeches, criminal intimidation and promoting political thuggery that fuel violence in the state.

According Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Abdullahi Abbas would also be investigated on the recent allegation of killing he made in a press conference.

“As the 2023 elections are fast approaching, we want to play our role in ensuring peaceful atmosphere for all Kano citizens and residents to exercise their civic rights”
