A Kano based Coalition under the auspices of ‘Political Annalists’ has called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to as a matter of urgency look into a shady project by the Ganduje administration.
The project, according to the coalition worth N10 billion naira was meant for the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV Cameras) at major points within the metropolis to further enhance security in the state.
According to the Executive Director of the group, Al’amin Albarra, a recent investigation carried out by his team revealed that no any CCTV cameras were installed by the former administration.
He said “it is unfortunate that after securing the N10 Billion loan from Access Bank for the said project, we could not find any CCTV cameras installed”.
“As patriotic citizens we are worried by this development which has added to the debt burden of the state and demand a probe of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his cabinet and any person involved in the suspected fraudulent project”, he added.
Reacting to the accusation, the Commissioner of Information under Governor Ganduje”s administration, Comrade Muhammad Garba said, there was no such project as it was not approved.
According to him, if those who are pushing the narratives have any documents to support their claims that their government accessed such loan, should come forth with such documents.
He described the development as a desperate move by some faceless persons bent on denting the image of the past administration.
“To the best of my knowledge, that project was cancelled. Those pushing this story are only after the image of Governor Ganduje”.
“If they have any documents to show, let them do so. We have investigated on our part and I can tell you that that Coalition is a fake one”.
“They are being used, we know some persons are using them and other NGOs to attack our administration but we hope the present administration will investigate and also come out with the truth, he added.
