CSR: Zenith Bank Donates Learning Materials to Kano

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Zenith Bank has donated assorted learning materials worth millions of Naira to Kano state ministry of Education.

Receiving the learning materials at the premises of Gidan Murtala, the Commissioner of Education, Hon Umar Haruna Doguwa expressed appreciation to the management for the kind gesture.

The commissioner said that the gesture will go along way towards complimenting government’s effort in revitalizing the state education sector which is one of the key priorities the present administration.

He explained that the sector has suffered serious set back, hence the determination of the present administration to correct the anomalies, stressing that more hands need to be on deck to salvage the sector.

Hon. Haruna Doguwa noted that if other banks and corporate organizations operating in Kano will emulate Zenith Bank through the discharge of their Corporate Social Responsibilities alot would be achieved.

The commissioner who gave the assurance of Kano State Government to continue to identify it self with the Bank, also assured them that the materials donated will be judiciously distributed to the deserving beneficiaries.

” No son of Governor, Commissioner, senior government officials or Directors will be given this materials but the children of the masses that really need them in our schools. I will monitor the distribution excercise and who ever is found diverting them, will be dealt with decisively” he asserted.

Presenting the assorted learning materials to the Commissioner, the Northern Regional Director of the bank, Dr. Sani Yahaya disclosed that the donation was made as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the bank to the government and people of Kano state.

“We at the Zenith Bank, we knew how important education is and we knew what the state government is doing in the education sector therefore, we are making this presentation as part of our CSR in Kano being one of the states we operate in” the Director said.

He added that the bank will do more in the education sector as well as in the areas of Health, Agriculture and other important sectors of human endeavour.

While appreciating the stand of the commissioner for ensuring judicious usage of the materials, he urged other banks, wealthy individuals and corporate bodies to follow suit by joining hands together with government to support education in the state.

The materials donated by the bank are 40,000 excercise books, 600 Cartons of Chalk, 20,000 pieces of Biros, 130,000 pieces of Pencils, 27,000 Eraser, 15,000 Shapners , 3,000 Rulers and 3,000 mathematical sets.
