Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isa Umaru, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Maimuna Isa Umaru.
The Governor described the news as shocking and painful, noting that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation as a caring and devoted mother, while praying for Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, the Governor was away on official assignment at the time of the incident but promptly sent delegations to attend the funeral and offer condolences.
The delegations were led by the Chief of Staff, Dr. Sulaiman Walid Sani, and the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, who represented the Governor at different times.
During the visit to the Rano Emirate Palace, Governor Yusuf extended condolences on behalf of his family, the Kano State Government, and the people of the state, praying for strength and comfort for the Emir and the entire Rano Emirate.
The Governor was accompanied by APC leaders at both national and state levels, commissioners, special advisers, heads of government agencies, and other top officials.
In his response, the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Isa Umaru, thanked the Governor for the gesture, describing the bond between the Kano State Government and the people of Rano as strong and enduring.
He also commended the Governor for promoting unity across the state and acknowledged various development projects executed in the emirate, including water supply, road construction, and market development.
Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf also visited the hometown of the late APC Assistant Organising Secretary in Kano State, Barrister Abdussalam Ginsau, who died while participating in arrangements for the party’s national convention in Abuja.
The Governor described the deceased as hardworking, honest, and God-fearing, praying for Allah to grant him eternal rest, while the Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Umar Doguwa, disclosed that investigations confirmed the death was natural, with no foul play involved.
