The Police in Kano yesterday said, it has succeeded in halting plans to cause breakdown of law and order by some criminal elements during the inauguration ceremony on Monday.

The Police Boss, Muhammed U. Gumel said the command launched series of crackdown operations within the period, leading to the arrest of 93 suspects who refused to heed the police prior warning to steer clear.

He gave details of the arrests as follows; total number of cases recorded, 11, number of Suspects Arrested – 56, number of Mobile Phones Recovered – 18, number of Weapons Recovered – 157.

Others are; Illicit Drugs and Substances: number of Incidents – 6 Cases were Recorded, Suspects Arrested – 17, Illicit Drugs/Substances Recovered – five (5) sachets of suspected Tramadol Tablets, eighty-three (83) Sachets of suspected Diazepam Tablets.

Three Hundred and seventy-one (371) pieces of Robber Solution, Twelve (12) Parcels & three hundred and three (303) wraps of Dried Leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, one thousand (1000) sachets of suspected Tramadol Tablets, six (6) packets & seventeen (17) Sachets of suspected Extol Tablets. etc.

Gumel further reveled that the Command also recorded other Violent Crime Cases which include 9 cases of Theft of Motor Vehicle and Fraud where 20 suspects were apprehended.

Items recovered include; 4 locally made guns, 1 toy gun, 2 motor vehicles, 2 motorcycls 2 plasma TV, 2 generator sets, 34 ATM cards and 23 cartons of Agro-allied chemicals.

The Police Commissioner warned that any group of persons or individuals who thinks the command’s warnings can’t be taken for serious should have a rethink as every warnings will henceforth be matched with actions.

All suspects will be charged to court after completion of investigations, he assured.
