The President, HM Group, Mallam Hamisu Magaji has described reports of criminal trespassing and intimidation against him circulating in some media a mere campaign orchestrated by his former lawyer to smear his reputation.
According to him, trouble started after he discovered his lawyer, one Barr. Ibrahim Umar Abere withheld his funds, N2,750,000 as part of payment for a property he, (Magaji) appointed him(Abere) to lead negotiation with a buyer at the sum of N40million.
Hamisu, who also is the Global Convener, Tinub-Shettima Ambassadors (TSA) and Gawuna-Garo Ambassadors (GGA), further stated that the above action by Barr. Ibrahim prompted him to investigate further and discovered the property at Sharada Estate was actually sold at N46 Million against his directives.
That, this acts of breach and abuse of trust, forced him to relieve the lawyer of his duties as his personal counsel and the sale process terminated, and was asked to return all documents belonging to the business man but resorted to threats, blackmail and revealing secrets to his opponents.
“I directed Barr. Ibrahim Umar Abere to lead negotiation for the sale of one of my houses at Sharada Federal Housing Authority Estate (FHA), PhaseII at the price of N40 million.
After the buyer paid the money into my ex lawyers account, he dishonestly transferred the sum of N37,250,000.00 to my account.
I challenged him on the missing balance of N2,750,000 which he failed to remit and I wrote him a cheque for the amount he paid into my account and called off the deal, not longer selling my house.
A week later, he transferred the same amount he withheld against my will and has resorted to all sort of blackmail.
I therefore say for the records, that the media claims of trespass, intimidation and mischief against me are nothing but a futile and failed attempt to tarnish my hard earned reputation.
I have never had any direct financial transaction with Yusuf Abubakar, (the buyer) and have petitioned the IG of Police, NBA and other agencies seeking Immediate actions against Barr. Ibrahim.
I have also issued the platforms that published the unfounded claims against me ultimatum to retract and tender public apology on same platforms, failure to do so, I shall seek a redress in court, he added.
