Over twenty thousand persons in Kano have so far benefited under the Kano CARES Project designed to empower the less privileged.
The Delivery Head, Kano CARES, Ahmadu Rufa’i made this known on Monday during an interview with Association of Kano Online Journalists (ASKOJ).
According to him, the project has succeeded in empowering various groups across the 44 local government areas of the state in various fields in two years.
“We have been empowering our people in areas such as farming, small scale businesses, live stocks, provision of farm implements, etc with the view of providing and sustaining their source of livelihood”.
“This project was introduced shortly after the outbreak of COVID-19 and is known as Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Programme”.
Rufa’i further stated that the project aside empowerment has also constructed over 90 kilometres of roads across twenty local government area of the state this, is in addition to the renovation of no fewer than 39 public toilets in different local governments.
“We have also constructed feeder roads not more than 2 kilometres each leading to over 90 kilometres. We have also renovated 39 public toilets constructed during Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso but were left without care”.
“We were given five hundred million at the beginning of the project and this fund has so far been utilised judiciously as the project winds down in few months time”.
“I use this opportunity to call on the Federal Government States and Local Governments to sustain this project after its completion in order to continue to deliver the dividend of democracy to the less privileged”, he added.
