Kano Hisbah Boss distances self from calls to run for Governor

The Commander, Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa on Tuesday, distanced himself from those agitating for his governorship race comes 2027.

According to him, he is a cleric and chooses to remain one to continue the propagation of Islamic faith and it’s teachings and does not have any political ambitions.

Daurawa made stated this during a grand event to welcome him back to the board following a peace brokered between him and the Governor of the state, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Recalled that the Hisbah Commander announced his resignation from his seat last week following the governor’s remarks about the mode of operations by personnel of the Hisbah.

The Commander’s resignation led to an uproar from different quarters leading to criticism on the part of the governor with many seeing the governor’s remarks as a discouragement to the Hisbah against their fight on immorality.

He said, “our misunderstanding with the governor was as a result of mischief makers. They are the ones behind such calls for my political race”.

“I appreciate the different Islamic scholars within and outside the state who intervened and settled our differences. I thank the governor and assure him of our support towards his administration”.

his part, the Director General, Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa applauded the Commander General for accepting to withdraw his resignation.

He reassured government readiness to reinvigorate the strength of Hishah board to continue discharging its statutory duty in the state.
