The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command, said it has seized over 277 gram of the deadly drug, methamphetamine widely abused in the state.
The Commander, CN, Abubakar Idris made this known on Thursday in Kano during a press conference to showcase seizures and other successes recorded by the command during the year 2022.
According to him, the command in its quest to bolster crime reduction amongst the people of the state, the agency has made significant seizures this year, leading to drastic reduction of abuse and trafficking of different psychotropic and psychoactive substances.
Idris said, a total of 8,386.733kg of hard drugs were seized in Kano during the year under review and gave the break down as follows; Cannabis Sativa 6,607.492kg, Psychotropic substances 1,778.388kg, Cocaine 451gram, Heroine 125gram and 277 gram of methamphetamine.
He further revealed that a total of 172 suspects comprising 110 males and 3 females were arrested during the year of which 113 convictions was secured.
In the same vein, over 1,844 drug users comprising of 1,669 males and 175 females received brief intervention, while 82 regular clients were counselled and discharged with 17 clients currently on admission.
Abubakar, who applauded the efforts of his men, also noted that, five Cannabis were discovered and destroyed while 82 hot spots were dislodged within and outside the metropolis.
