The Kano State Police Command have arrested two female suspects for kidnapping and abduction of two children for ransom alongside other dangerous criminals in the state.
Zainab Rabi’u, ‘f’, 45 years old of Gwammaja Quarters, an aunt to the first victim, Almustapha Bashir ‘m’ 6years, organized and arranged the Kidnapping of the victim alongside, Abdurrashid Sa’idu, ‘m’, 27 years, Hassan Abdullahi, ‘m’, 24 years old and Ahmed Saleh, ‘m’, 25 years old, all of Sheka Quarters Kano.
The suspects who kidnapped the 6year old boy demanded a ransom of Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000:00) but later settled at Five Million, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N5,150,000:00). The victim was rescued unhurt by the police after a complaint by his father.
Similarly, a 25years old divorcee Rahma Sulaiman masterminded the kidnapping of her 6 years old daughter, Hafsat Kabiru where the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00k) was demanded as ransom.
However, the suspect was arrested after the former husband one Kabiru Shehu of Sharada Quarters daughter named Hafsat Kabiru, ‘f’, 6 years old was missing, and that unknown persons called her through her mobile phone demanding the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00k) as ransom. In a follow-up investigation, the victim was rescued in Madobi LGA while the suspect who confessed to the crime said she carried out the crime because her former husband abandoned her with the child for over 10 months with financial support.
Parading the suspects yesterday before news men at the Bompai Headquarters, Kano, the Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc said the command in its roadmap to achieve a peaceful Kano State, have commenced robust Community Policing engagements, incorporating intelligence-led and visibility policing and application of technology in tackling crimes, building synergy with sister security agencies, implementing Community Policing strategies with stakeholders, identifying root causes of crimes especially use of illicit drugs, massive public enlightenment and sensitization.
Gumel, also paraded one Ashiru Mohammed, ‘m’, 23 years old of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Dala LGA, Kano who was in possession of Five (5) Parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp at Kofar Mata Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA, Kano State, concerted intelligence-led operations led to the recovery of another Six Hundred and Five (605) Parcels of Dried Leaves Suspected to be Indian.
Other suspects paraded during the press conference include armed robbers who met their waterloo while ammunitions recovered from them were also displayed.
