Police Operation Claimed one Life in Kano

A 25 year old young man, Ismail Yunusa of Sheka Quarters, Kano has lost his life during a police Operation in the area.

Ismail died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after he was rushed their due to effects of tear gas cannisters fired by men of the police deployed there to effect an arrest.

Trouble started when a team of Police Officers was dispatched to dismantle a group and effect the arrest of some suspects, after one Mohammed Rabiu of Sheka Dandurumi Quarters Kano lodged a complaint to Police in Sheka Division, Kano against one Abba Muhammed who conspired with his Gang Members and jointly beat him up living him with life-threatening injuries on his body.

In a statement by the Command’s public relation officer, SP, Abdullahi Kiyawa the officers drafted were attacked and prevented from making the arrest, a situation which led to firing of tear gas.

Confirming the incident, Kiyawa said; “The Kano Police Command is deeply saddened by the loss of life during this unfortunate incident and expresses its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased as discreet investigation has commenced”.

He further stated that the Commissioner of Police urged the public to remain calm and refrain from engaging in mounting unprovoked acts of violence or hostility against law enforcement officials determined to serve and protect all people in all sectors of the society.
