The newly-appointed Kano State Commissioner Ministry for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, identified indolence, mistrust and insincerity as the major factors that hinder the development of any society.
Dr. Kofar Mata stated this when he assumed duty, Monday, immediately after the swearing-in by His Excellency, the Kano State Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf at Government House.
The Commissioner urged the entire staff to adhere with the above-mentioned qualities with a view to take the state to greater heights, particularly the education sector.
“You can take me as a clear example, that with commitmeent and struggle and encouragement we acquired from former State Governor Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso we are now what we are,” he explained.
Dr. Kofar-Mata, who is one of the beneficiaries of foreign scholarship sponsored by the state government during Kwankwaso’s administration, promised to comes up with new policies and programmes that would enhance the education sector in the state.
He thanked the State governor Abba Gida-gida for selecting and appointing him, out of millions of people in the state, as Commissioner for higher education, stressing the need for concerted efforts for all and sundry to rally round the present administration in order to achieve the desired objectives.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dahiru Adda’u, congratulated the new Commissioner for the appointment which he described as well-deserved, being Dr. Kofar-Mata is academician in one of the stated-own universities.
The permanent secretary then assured the Commissioner the loyality and cooperation from the entire staff of the ministry.
A member representing Kura, Madobi, Garun Malam constituency at House of Representatives, Alhaji Yusuf Datti Umar, former Minister Dr. Bala Barodo and Barayen Karaye Engr. Ibrahim Karaye are among the speakers at the ceremony, while thousands of well wishers, including males and females, accompanied the Commissioner.
