The Comptroller of Customs Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Calabar Free Trade Zone, AH Waziri said his command will Capitalise on data for optimum and effective service delivery in the area.
He said with Data, trade activities would be simplified and made easy thereby encouraging business men and women and also generate more revenue for the Federal Government.
Waziri who spoke in Lagos on Thursday during, the 2023 Customs General Conference (CGC) said, Data, an inevitable aspect of life remains a tool for planning and development of a nation, organisation and the life of every organised individual.
According to him, the Conference with the theme; ‘Leveraging Data Analytics for Secure and Efficient Trade Facilitation in Customs Operations’ is a challenge to consolidate on previous efforts of Data gathering towards effective operations along the Free Trade Zone.
“It is only through Data gathering we can know how many vessels come in, the contents, movement of goods on our border and the traffic”.
“If we get these information right, it will help the service in planing and deploying adequate man power needed, where and appropriately”.
“I will henceforth insist and emphasise to all my units, the need for daily, weekly and monthly Data collection and processing to ease our operations”.
He added that, with knowledge acquired from the conference, the Service will improve on Data accuracy which will further speedy up service delivery and be able to compete with their counterparts across the world in terms of effectiveness.
“We have learnt on how to improve on our Data and we would ensure recent and correct Data are generated to help us at out command and the Service at large”, he added.
