Kano State Government on Monday said measures have been taken to ensure pilgrims from the state are well taken care of as this year’s Hajj operations begins.
The state governor, Engr. Abba Kabir made the disclosure during the flag-off ceremony of air lifting first batch of intending pilgrims from the state numbering 555 from Malan Aminu Kano international airport, Kano.
According to him, part of measures taken include the demolition of illegal structures by the previous administration at the Hajj Camp and drilling of boreholes to provide water at the camp for easy convenience.
He said, the state Hajj commission was also overhauled after unfavorable plans put in place by the Ganduje’s administration which was meant to extort and expose the state pilgrims to unnecessary suffering was discovered.
The governor however, admonished the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state and avoid every form of social vices adding that althoug accommodation arrangements have been made by the previous government, wellcare packages have been arranged for them while in the Holy Land.
He assured that, all officers with the commission traveling with them are people of good characters mandated to ensure all pilgrims from the state are accorded every necessary support needed throughout the period.
