Police Arrest Dozens of Looters in Kano

Police in Kano have confirmed the arrest of no fewer than 49 suspects for looting shops carting away goods worth millions of naira.

The state in the last few days has witness wave of looting cases following the ongoing demolition exercise by the state government of what it called illegal structures and move to recover public property.

The Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP. Abdullahi Kiyawa who confirmed the arrest today said, following the receipt of complaint about activities of the looters on rampage, On 04/06/2023 at about 2200hrs at Fagge, Triumph Plaza, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc directed the immediate deployments of teams of Operation Restore Peace to the scene, where some of the suspected looters were arrested and others dispersed.

During the operation, 3 Flash Doors, Flash Windows, 4 LG Air Conditioner, 8 Pieces of Polling Door Iron and Sixteen (16) Heavy Duty Hammer, were recovered among many others.

The Commissioner called on parents and community leaders to talk to their wards/youths to desist from looting people’s properties as it is a clear case of mischief and theft which are punishable under the law.
