Hon. Engr. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, the member representing Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa, Katsina Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has outlined his legislative activities and constituency interventions since assuming office in February 2024.

The legislator highlight bills, motions, infrastructure projects and empowerment programmes undertaken across the constituency while confirming his decamp to the opposition, PDP over what he described as unfair processes during the APC Primaries in the state.

According to the scorecard released by his office, the lawmaker sponsored five bills, including the National Obstetrics Fistula Centre, Babbar-Ruga (Establishment) Bill and the Federal College of Education (Technical), Faskari Establishment Bill, both of which have reached the public hearing stage.

Other proposed legislations include the National Institute for Vocational Education in Kankara, an amendment to provide additional judges for the Code of Conduct Tribunal, and the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Amendment Bill.

The report also stated that Tafoki moved several motions on the floor of the House, drawing attention to insecurity in Faskari, Kankara and Sabuwa, the rehabilitation of the Zaria–Funtua–Gusau–Kaura Namoda railway line, and the need to block websites hosting pornographic content.

On constituency projects, the lawmaker listed the construction of classroom blocks, boreholes, solar-powered water facilities, solar street lights, and the supply of electricity transformers to communities across the three local government areas.

He also highlighted the ongoing reconstruction of the Tafoki–Funtua road, medical outreach programmes, and the distribution of educational materials to public schools.

In the area of agriculture and empowerment, the report said thousands of bags of fertiliser were distributed to farmers, while food items, cash assistance, business support, motorcycles, Point-of-Sale (POS) machines and other empowerment packages were provided to constituents.

Security support was also extended through the donation of communication equipment and rechargeable lights to vigilante groups and other security agencies.

The scorecard further claimed that the lawmaker facilitated employment opportunities for qualified lecturers in tertiary institutions and recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force, while also providing financial assistance to students, victims of banditry, small business owners and constituents requiring medical support.

The report noted that the listed projects and interventions represent only part of the activities carried out by the lawmaker since February 2024.
