The Gawuna/Garo Governorship campaign progressed on Thursday with more pomp and ceremony across Sumaila and Takai local government areas of the state.
The campaign rally featured speeches delivered by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the APC leader in the state,his Deputy,Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawauna,the APC Governorship Candidate and his Running Mate, Hon.Murtala Sule Garo,among other APC stalwarts.
Addressing the well-attended rally that was witnessed by APC supporters and other residents of Sumaila,Takai and adjoining towns and villages, Governor Ganduje urged the people of the two local government areas to vote for Dr. Gawauna and Hon.Murtala Sule Garo to become the next Governor and Deputy Governor of the state, as they had been tested and trusted.
He said the duo deserved the mandate of the people because of their impressive records in the various public offices they had held over the years.
Ganduje said such credentials qualified Dr. Gawauna and Murtala Garo to succeed him and continue with the laudable programmes of his administration which included infrastructure development, free and compulsory basic and secondary education, youths and women economic empowerment.
He also said that the candidates had the capacity to conceive and actualise more policies and programmes for the continued development of the state,if given the mandate in the forthcoming general elections.
Amid background music supplied by Fresh Emir and Wazirin Rarara, among other entertainers, the Governor presented the APC flags to the party’s candidates for the House of Representatives and State Assembly from the area.
In his address, Gawauna said from all indications, he and his Running Mate would be elected as the next Governor and Deputy Governor of the state,God willing.
He, therefore,urged the people of the area to vote for him during the forthcoming Governorship election, promising to deliver on his mandate.
On his part,the APC Chairman in the state, Prince Abdullahi Abbas,said the mass turnout of people witnessed at the rally held in Sumaila, was a testimony that the APC would win all the elective positions in the forthcoming polls.
Prince Abbas also said opposition political parties in the area had already developed cold feet, which signalled a resounding victory for the APC at the polls.
In his speech, Kabiru Gaya,the Senator representing Kano South, said he had executed development projects in Sumaila area including roads, schools, boreholes and a hospital.
He, therefore,urged the people of the area to vote for him, again, as well as the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,the APC Governorship Candidate in the state,and his Running Mate,Hon.Murtala Sule Garo, and all other APC candidates in the February and March elections.
The police and other security personnel had a hectic time controlling the massive crowd that attended the rally.
