The wife of late Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd), Mrs. Amina Abubakar, who survived the bandit attack that claimed her husband’s life while they were in captivity, has successfully undergone surgery in Abuja and is recovering well.
A security source who spoke exclusively to Blazon News Nigeria disclosed that the operation was successfully carried out last Thursday, adding that she is responding positively to treatment and remains under close medical observation.
The source also debunked claims circulating in the public domain that Mrs. Abubakar was not rescued, insisting that she was rescued alive by gallant troops of the Nigerian Army during the operation that secured her freedom from the bandits’ den.
According to the source, reports suggesting she was never rescued are false and misleading, stressing that her successful surgery and ongoing recovery are a testament to the timely rescue and medical care she has received.
He further revealed that Amina was shot in the thigh and lower belly region and abandoned after troops were closing in on her adopters who had initially taken the sum of eleven million naira (N11,000000) ransom from their family but later decided to demand for the sum of five hundred million naira (N500,000000) when they discovered the identity of the couple.
The source expressed optimism over her recovery, noting that her condition has continued to improve following the surgical procedure. Mrs. Abubakar is expected to continue her recuperation under the supervision of medical experts in Abuja.
