Kano Police Takes War against Thuggery to Dala Hill, Arrests 49

The police in Kano State have taken a step further in combating the wide spread of thuggery in the state by taking the fight to one of the ancient hills in the state popularly known as Dala Hill (Dutsen Dala).

Police authorities said the hill has become the den of drug pushers and a rendezvous where thugs meet to plot, take dangerous drugs and later unleash mayhem on the surrounding communities and even other areas within the metropolis.

Addressing news men at the top of the hill Thursday, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state, Muhammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc said “This is to signal to the thugs and their accomplice that the police are in-charge and have taken over their place of hideout”.

He said the intensified campaign against the menace of thuggery (Daba),has resulted in the arrest of a total of forty-nine (49) suspected thugs (Yan Daba) in different locatuons of the state such as; Mandawari, Bachirawa, Farm Center, Hotoro, Dorayi Babba and Dala Hills. While extending their search light towards Dala Grave Yard and Chiranchi General Area where it is becoming a den of the infamous unrepentant ones.

Usaini, warned that his dogged men been given marching orders to bring to book, black smiths who fabricate dangerous weapons for the thugs, inviting identified black smiths in the business.

“The Police Command is going to start arresting the fabricators of these life-threatening weapons who are mainly artisans popularly known as the Black Smiths who on daily basis keep arming the thugs (Yan Daba). It’s on this development that the following identified Black Smiths are invited to the Police Command for dialogue. Otherwise, they will be treated by the police as common criminals. They are as follows; i. Bala Isra’ila of Santar Bulo Village of Bichi LGA, ii. Auta Makeri of Kwandarma Village of Minjibir LGA

iii. Sarkin Kira of Adakawa Quarters of Dala LGA, iv. Dayyabu Gawuna of Gawuna Quarters of Nassarawa LGA”.

Muhammed called for collaborative efforts and engagements by all stakeholders especially non-state actors; the Vigilantes, Traditional Hunters and Special Constabulary Personnel to keep coming together in ensuring that these elements of insecurity are hunted and arrested anywhere they are found.
