The Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project has commissioned a Women Agricultural Centre in Kano to enhance nutrition, empower women, and strengthen food security across the state.

The facility, funded by the Islamic Development Bank under its Live and Livelihood Funds (LLF), will support students and provide training for women in the preparation of nutritious and traditional foods while promoting economic development.

Unveiling the centre, the State Programme Coordinator, Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, described the initiative as a strategic intervention to combat malnutrition.

He said the centre would serve as a knowledge hub for women farmers and students, including those on NYSC and SIWES attachments.

Muhammad urged the Kano Agricultural and Rural Development Authority to maximise the facility, noting that it has the potential to serve as a model for replication by other states.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of KNARDA, Dr. Faruk Kurawa, said the centre reflects the state government’s commitment to boosting agricultural productivity and improving access to nutritious food.

He added that the project, conceived after extensive stakeholder engagement, marks a significant milestone in advancing nutrition and food processing initiatives in Kano State.
