….Accuses Abdullahi Abbas for Using Thugs to Scare Away Innocent Voters in Kano
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano has described as irresponsible and wild the physical attack on its gubernatorial candidate Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, orchestrated by the Kano Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Abdullahi Abbas and his thugs at the polling unit on Saturday.
Engr. Abba and other unsuspecting voters were at Chiranchi quarters polling unit in Gwale Local Government area waiting for their turns to cast votes when the APC Chairman arrived the scene with his thugs in their hundreds chanting violent songs and then followed by stone pelting in a bid to disrupt the peaceful election atmosphere and scared away the law-abiding citizens from enfranchising their civic responsibility.
A statement signed by the Chief Spokesperson of the NNPP Campaign Council, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said while no case of injury was recorded, it took intervention of the police and other security agencies at the scene, who shoot sporadically to air in order to scare away lawless Abdullahi Abbas and his thugs, to restore peace and confidence in the committed voters who have waited for hours in the queue to cast their votes.
Egnr. Abba commended the maturity and patience exhibited by the NNPP supporters present at the unfortunate scene, for not retaliating the attack while assuring the general public that his party members will remain patriotic and respect the law during and after the elections despite the incessant attacks and provocation by the ruling party.
H.E. Abba who cast his vote at Chiranchi 005 Polling unit in Gwale Local Government area of Kano State called on voters to be law-abiding and vigilant of bad political elements in Kano who have devised all sinister means including violence on the people to manipulate the 2023 elections after it became crystal-clear that no amount of monetary gift can induce wiser Kano voters to trade-off their rights for pettiness flagrantly displayed by the APC stakeholder.
