Residents of Sabon Gari Area, Fagge LGA of Kano State have come under the attacks of groups suspected to be cultists in recent times.
The spate of attacks in about last three months in the predominantly Igbo residential Area has left many victims injured, others disposed of valuables while some persons have been held hostage in broad daylight forcing their family members to pay ransom for their release.
The daring occultic groups belonging to different fraternity continue to attack law abiding citizens unabated with residents living in constant fear as they know not what to expect or who the next victim would be.
One of such victims (name withheld) who hails from Anambra State was attacked at about 6:30AM in front of his house according to him by boys who came in a tricycle numbering about six with their faces covered and demand for his phone but got stabbed in the stomach and other parts of his body before he could flee.
A victim after surgery

According to him, he only found himself later in the hospital after good Samaritans came to his rescue and rushed him to hospital with his intestine bulging out and was miraculously saved by their quick intervention as he was rushed to the theater where he had a successful surgery.
The victim further narrates that the incidence and the stories of others also affected has become a nightmare for him as he finds it difficult to get it out of his mind living constantly in fear.
Recovering at home
Most of the victims interviewed spoke off the records over fear of being identified and re-attacked.
Amongst such victims include two ladies dispossessed of their phones and a woman who went for church cleaning but unfortunately met with the bad boys.
A resident of the Area, Mr. Chukwuma Obinna Revealed that there are two major fraternity operating in the Area namely; the Aro-Bagars with strong base on Sanyolu Street and the Vi-kings scatter around Sabon Gari.
According to him, the Aro-bagars are mostly violent by nature and are mostly behind all the series of attacks as they launch their attacks on unsuspecting persons, sometimes a whole street is attacked by the group dispossessing people of their valuables such as money, phones hand bags etc.
Mr. Obinna Also explained that the Vi-Kings are more into women and not too violent like the former but once in a while do engage each other in inter-rival clashes which has left many of them injured with unfortunate residents who accidentally run into such clashes.
Furthermore he said, the group hide under the covers of the night to carry out such attacks or during the wee hours of the day when few people are outside.
He said there is the urgent need for security agencies in Kano to go after the groups and bring them to justice to serve as deterrent to others who are aspiring to join them or go in that direction.
In his reaction, a traditional custodian, Eze Oliver Ikechukwu who confirm the recent development stated that on his part, he had tried to admonished some of the gang members carrying out such attacks in the area to engage themselves in productive activities after the Police apprehended some of them a while ago.
Oliver, stated that the recent development is frowned at and must be stopped immediately to forestall further attacks on innocent people and pleads with the security agencies in the State to as a matter of urgency rescue the Area from the ugly attacks of the criminals.
Furthermore, he charged people in Sabon Gari who have credible information about the criminals to be bold enough to approach the Police and other Security Agencies and provide them information that would lead to the arrest of the bad gangs.
That although a lot of victims and eye witnesses are afraid, but it is a sacrifice they must make for all and also warn those who have taken to such crime to desist from it bearing in mind that the State does not condone such lawlessness.
When contacted, the Public Relation Officer, Kano State Police Command DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa asked to be given till Monday to respond.
However, when contacted again on Monday, Kiyawa simple responded, “No attacks by cultists pls. Activities of thugs (Yan Daba) over 60 were arrested within the Sallah festive period”.
