It was a celebration of success, yesterday, as the nation’s flagship newspaper, The Guardian, won the Sports and Lagos Reporting of the Year at the 31st Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME).
The Guardian Christian Okpara won in the Sports Category, Gbenga Salau won Lagos Reporting of the Year, while the Newspaper won the Child Friendly Award
In his speech, Supervising Trustee, DAME, Lanre idowu, urged journalists to set agenda in a socially responsible manner.
He noted that without the support and sponsorship of the public, it would have been near impossible to have the event.
“DAME is your project, if you have not embraced it, it could not have been sustained till this moment,” he said.
The Guardian was also the first runner up in best media website.
