Chairperson, Nigerian Union of Women Journalists NAWOJ, Kano Chapter Hajiya has called on all and sundry to provide enabling environment for girl children to explore opportunities for their growth.
Hasfat, who joined other stakeholders to celebrate this year’s girl-child day said the role of women in any progressive society is crucial as such, must be given opportunity to acquire academic knowledge, skills and other relevant knowledge for their development.
According to her, it is a well known fact that women constitute a large portion of every society are builders and have done extremely well in different endeavours of life despite their few numbers and gender challenges.
She said, there is the need for government and the private sectors to create more enabling environment for the girl-child like her male counterpart to thrive educationally, professionally politically and other spheres of life.
She added that, it is disheartening to still find female children of school age roaming the streets, hawking wares to raise funds to feed themselves and family.
This, she said, must be brought to an end by government, saddled with the responsibility of providing responsible and meaningful lives for its citizens.
Furthermore, the Chairperson, pledged that NAWOJ would not relent in offering it’s support where needed to better the lives of every girl-child in the state and Nigeria at large.
