The governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has challenged the Kano State Government to provide concrete evidence supporting allegations that he received funds from local government councils through his son, Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam.
Gwarzo, a former Deputy Governor of Kano State, made the demand in response to claims reportedly made by the spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, alleging that local government funds were diverted to him through his son.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the NDC governorship candidate described the allegations as baseless, outrageous and a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation and integrity built over years of public service.
According to the statement, the accusations were mere figments of the accuser’s imagination and lacked any factual basis. Gwarzo challenged those making the claims to present credible and verifiable evidence to substantiate the allegations.
“Mere accusations, no matter how often repeated in the media, do not amount to proof,” the statement said, insisting that the burden of proof lies with those making the allegations.
The former deputy governor reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accountability and the rule of law throughout his public service career, expressing confidence that the truth would prevail. He also urged members of the public to disregard what he described as unfounded allegations aimed at misleading the public.
