Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully repelled coordinated attacks launched by suspected fighters of the terrorist group, ‘ISWAP’ on military positions in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Acting Military Information Officer of OPHK, Captain Mohammed Goni, the terrorists launched multiple attacks in the early hours of June 19 on troops’ locations at Dusten Kura and Chara Road in the Buratai axis.

The military said alert troops, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly detected the attempted incursion and responded with superior firepower through acoordinated air and ground operation.

The response was supported by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI and the Captain Goni explained that intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets, alongside precision strike platforms, played a critical role in disrupting the terrorists’ offensive.

He noted that the air support integrated effectively with ground troops, forcing the attackers to retreat in disarray after suffering significant casualties.

The military further disclosed that no casualties were recorded among troops during the operation, while the terrorists sustained heavy losses in both personnel and equipment. The successful operation, according to the statement, reflects the high level of preparedness and operational effectiveness of forces deployed in the North-East theatre.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist elements and restoring lasting peace across the region. The command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
